42 dead in Ukraine after locomotive hits bus

Kiev - A total of 42 people were killed on Tuesday when a freight locomotive rammed a bus in the Ukraine, officials at the Ministry of Emergency Situations said.
Another eleven people were injured in the apparent accident.

Now here is the most interesting part...

Police described him (driver)  as a man aged 56, with more than 30 years' experience behind the wheel.

Konstantyn Efimenko, Ukraine's Minister of Transport, told reporters at the accident scene that the driver had waited until the locomotive was 15 to 20 metres away from the crossing, before driving the bus in front of it.
'It would have been impossible not to have seen the approaching danger ... witnesses say they heard the passengers screaming for him (the driver) to stop,' Efimenko said. 'It was very strange behaviour (by the driver).'
